Part of the Tung Lok group, Kippo may be a little out of the way, but its fare makes the travelling worthwhile. There are some interesting finds, with the steamed minced pigeon soup in bamboo tube being one of the best: fragrant with the grassy aroma of hot bamboo. For a meat dish, try the roasted chicken – crispy skinned, savoury and moist within: absolutely delightful. Another well-executed dish is the austere sounding home-style beancurd with mushrooms and spinach – austere maybe, but delicious nonetheless. For dessert, the brightly coloured fresh mango pudding makes a cheerful choice, and the crisp and comforting deep-fried bean paste pancake is worth waiting the ten minutes preparation time for.
