The Greenhouse Restaurant

At lunch, the place swarms with black suits worn by both men and women alike. This is a visual testimony to the popularity of the restaurant’s offerings —billed as a ‘business’ buffet — with the corporate types. This is a place designed to impress head honchos: a bright, airy, sombre dining room that boasts a high ceiling, glass walls that offer panoramic views of the lush greenery of the surrounding seven acre gardens, an impressive selection of Old and New World vintages, and above all, the prestigious The Ritz-Carlton Millenia location. Here the generously laid out buffet offers a wide variety of dishes with principally Asian flavours – more than enough to test any manager’s decision-making savvy. I skipped over the trendy, ever popular favourites of sushi and sashimi – I could barely get to the counter anyway – and went for the Caesar salad: a fine specimen, laden with parmesan, croutons and anchovy. Then I had some fish head curry – a delicious treat for those with the stomach for it – and a delicious crispy, spicy, oily black pepper crab — lip-smackingly good. For those who couldn’t get their well-coiffed heads around the buffet choices, an a la carte menu provided a less mind-boggling selection of local and Western dishes.
